YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Learn more about Ram electrified vehicles, their charging, performance, range and how they meet the demands of truck buyers while delivering benchmark‑quality vehicles.
BEV stands for Battery Electric Vehicle. BEVs run solely on electricity. They are fully electric vehicles with rechargeable batteries and no gasoline engine. All energy to run the vehicle comes from the battery pack, which is recharged from the grid by plugging the vehicle in to recharge.
Battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, use electricity stored in a battery pack to power an electric motor and turn the wheels. When depleted, the batteries are recharged using grid electricity, either from a wall socket or a dedicated charging unit.

BEVs are powered entirely by electricity, relying on battery power meaning a BEV doesn’t have a fuel tank or an exhaust pipe. Instead, it has one or more electric motors powered by a larger onboard battery. Users charge the battery at home or public charging stations.

A Hybrid vehicle does not plug in to recharge the battery; instead, it continuously recharges the battery via regenerative braking and through operation of the engine.

In addition to regenerative braking and engine function, a Plug‑In Hybrid (PHEV) battery can be recharged by plugging it in. A PHEV also has a larger battery capacity than a typical Hybrid vehicle, and can therefore drive on zero-emission electric mode for longer before the combustion engine takes over. This results in lower tailpipe emissions overall than a regular Hybrid vehicle.

The third generation of EVs released in 2018 and beyond come with larger and more efficient battery packs with more than 200 km driving ranges on a single charge. This is more than enough to suit the day‑to‑day needs of the average Canadian driver. The Ram 1500 REV Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)Battery electric vehicles (BEV) are fully electric vehicles offering zero-emission driving and powerful performance without the need for fossil fuels. goes above and beyond as this all-electric, zero‑emission vehicle offers two choices: the standard 168‑kilowatt‑hour battery pack with a targeted range of 560 kilometresBased on manufacturer internal simulation data. Actual mileage may vary. and the optional 229‑kilowatt-hour large battery pack with a targeted range of over an unsurpassed 800 kilometres.
The time it takes to charge your BEV depends on how much charge is currently in your battery, and the charging method you choose.
Regularly charging your Ram BEV is the best way to optimize your vehicle’s performance and help you to enjoy more emission-free electric driving. Follow the recommendations in your owner’s manual for the optimal charging frequency.

New tools for locating charging stations are becoming available every day like the Ram Revolution Concept BEVBattery electric vehicles (BEV) are fully electric vehicles offering zero-emission driving and powerful performance without the need for fossil fuels. comes with a built‑in charging locator! You can use this handy charging station locator map, by clicking on the link below:

And don’t forget - you can always use the included Level I charger to charge your BEV using any available, standard three‑prong outlet if a commercial charging station is not available nearby.

The cost to charge an electric vehicle is influenced by a variety of factors including the size and capacity of the vehicle’s battery, the frequency of charging, the local price of electricity, the time of day, and the amount of voltage required. Therefore, different electric vehicles will have different annual charging costs based on your driving habits and your location.

To reduce charging costs, consider recharging your vehicle at night when electricity demand is lower and rates may be reduced, or having a Level II charger professionally installed at home to reduce total charging connection time.

Yes, it’s fine to partially charge the battery. Your Ram Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)Battery electric vehicles (BEV) are fully electric vehicles offering zero-emission driving and powerful performance without the need for fossil fuels. is equipped with specialized software that manages battery usage over its life cycle to optimize battery performance and longevity.
In case you run out of battery charge on the road, Ram Roadside Assistance has your back. You’re covered 24/7. Simply call 1‑800‑363‑4869 from anywhere in Canada or the United States when you need assistance. See your Warranty Manual for complete details.
Your Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) follows roughly the same maintenance schedule as a gas-powered vehicle, and will not need to be serviced more often. Therefore you can expect an equivalent cost for maintaining your BEV.
Yes it can, depending on your driving habits and how frequently you recharge the battery. Not using gasoline or diesel means that battery electric cars are not consuming fuel, therefore saving you money on total fuel costs. Also, the cost of electricity per kilometre is typically much lower than that of gasoline. For illustrative purposes, a BEV costs about 3 to 4 ¢/km (at 15 ¢/kWh), compared to a typical 4‑cylinder gasoline vehicle at 11 to 12 ¢/km (at $1.50/L).

The costs of owning an electric vehicle are predictable, and are more or less equivalent to what you would expect from a gas-powered vehicle.

There are also potential savings associated with a battery electric vehicle (based on your driving habits). For example, driving with battery power reduces overall fuel consumption, so no spends on gasoline. The general costs of owning an electrified vehicle are based on:

  • charging costs (local electricity rates, charging frequency, home charging centre installation)
  • maintenance costs (regular scheduled maintenance, repair costs)
  • insurance costs

Modern battery electric vehicles perform just as well as traditional gas‑powered vehicles where it counts, including speed, quickness, and torque. For that matter, BEVs accelerate faster than gas‑powered cars and have more than enough speed for everyday usage because electric motors are much simpler than internal combustion engines. Therefore, BEVs can provide full torque — the force that drives the vehicle forward — from 0 kilometers, resulting in instant acceleration.
The number of kilometres your BEV will travel before the battery needs to be recharged depends on the vehicle, your driving habits, and whether you’re doing a top‑up recharge. However, it is typically enough to accomplish an average person’s daily driving needs.

Ram electric vehicles are engineered to work in all kinds of weather conditions. BEV performance depends on many factors, such as the vehicle itself, its potential range in warmer weather, and whether the vehicle’s heat is on. With a little preparation and knowledge, your Ram will be ready to power through the cold. Here are five super easy tips to help your Ram go the distance:

  • Park your Ram to charge inside a garage if possible, and turn the heat or air on while the car is charging — this gives you as much charge as possible
  • Keep the vehicle from sitting idle by turning the heat on to warm up before driving
  • Combine trips, and don’t use the vehicle more than necessary. High speeds and heavy braking impact total driving range
  • For heating yourself, seat warmers are a better choice than running high heat through the ventilation system and will preserve battery life
  • Keep tire pressure high for optimal driving to preserve battery power

All of our electric vehicles undergo rigorous testing to ensure the highest safety and performance standards, so you can drive confidently every time you get behind the wheel. For additional cold‑weather performance tips, consult your owner’s manual.

It’s perfectly safe to drive your Ram electric vehicle in heavy rain. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are designed to charge and drive safely in rain and snow. All major electric components of the vehicle are safely and securely tucked away and shielded to prevent injuring the driver and passengers.

All Ram Battery Electric Vehicles meet all Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. There is no cause for concern about the safety of driving a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) any more than driving a gas‑powered vehicle. You should always exercise caution while driving and follow all driving laws, regulations, and safe practices, but the vehicle itself does not pose any additional danger to you.

In fact, the Ram Revolution Concept BEV offers a range of innovative safety features to protect you and your passengers.
